We moved back to TEXAS. The land of milk & honey, sweltering summers, no state tax and affordable mansions. As you can see above, we used a pod service for our move and were pleased with the transition back home. Foster enjoyed the move, but not nearly as much as Winston & Riley (enter sarcastic eyeroll from the cats now)…
C accepted a position with his company back in the area and I began working for my Dad’s company in property & casualty insurance. Of course we both miss living 5 miles from the beach, year-round perfect weather, and a city where nearly everyone is a native from somewhere else. We left behind wonderful friends & neighbors, favorite restaurants, the best hairstylist I’ve ever known, the convenience of a 2 hour drive from the mountains or a 2 hour flight to the bay, an unofficial dog beach in Malibu, the craziness of Hollywood, the cleanliness of Santa Monica, the uniqueness of Abbott Kinney, the breath-taking views of hikes around the city… and while we do miss LA, we are happy to be back home.
So far 2014 is off to a great start! We’ve planned for a big trip to Las Vegas in April for our joint dirty-thirty celebration, and a 4 year anniversary trip this fall which is TBD. Currently we’re looking at Japan, China and Thailand (Phuket).
Foster is enjoying Texas so far… his new best friends being my Mom & Dad. They spoil him more than we do, and he’s quickly learned he can get just about anything from them, whenever he wants.
Big future plans include saving up for the purchase of our first house, area in DFW still to be determined.
There’s a lot of excitement this year for both of us personally & professionally… I’m looking forward to 2014!
In case anyone is wondering… I’m still working on my 30 before 30 and I’ve got a lot to accomplish in the next three months! Stay tuned for the updated list.
